Wherever you travel in the states the rules are different for alot of small things. For example in some places they don't bag your groceries or offer to help you to your car in other places they automatically do it. In some places you order tea you get it hot not cold and some places it's sweetened and others it's not. When i was young not a JW I went to college in a different state and got a partime job at a bakery on my first day a man walked in and ordered a dozen rolls and i had been raised to call donuts donuts and rolls were bread items like hamburger rolls so I said "we don't have any rolls". He looked at me like I was crazy because unbeknownst to me they called donuts rolls in that part of the states. Where I came from a soda was coke or 7up but there soda's had ice cream in them So it can be confusing for sure.

How can I be "COOL" on JWN?
by Silent_Scream inwhat are the unwritten rules and standards that make some people here cool, others not.. saying "just be yourself" is a lie!
i see many people being themselves who start an interesting thread and have 6 comments (5 being their own), while others post "cheeseburgers" and the thread last for days.
lol.. .

there once was a poster who felt cool
although the site seemed to have some rule
not everyones game
turned out just the same
so there must be some unspoken cool rule

The jw experience that we've all had here is unique to us even in out distance and separate ways we once spent many years in prison together and no matter where we go or what we do it will be our common thread. That imprisonment changed us and has made us what we are today others who have not been there will never really understand it. Believe it or not I'm one of those people who was contacted at the door when i was in my 30's looking for the meaning of life my experience was quite different than a born in. It made it easiar to leave because it was just an experience along the way that lasted a bit too long. This site is a special place of understanding and to use a word that I have come to loathe because of the organization "encouragement". Keep stopping in when you get a change your words are elegant and beautiful.

Everyone got to feeling real natural and organic so no one could have predicted what was about to happen. It started kind of slow but then it really got going and eventually it went out of control. This fellow who I think works at a weirdo bookstore was the one who first got the idea and of course people like that always have ideas. He told us to just shed everything and you know try it be natural and let it flow. Well everyone began discarding whatever they felt was holding them back and he said don't worry about it's all just about technique.

Songs that are atmospheric
by FlyingHighNow inthis is a song thread that will take a little thought.
i'd like for you to share songs that sound atmospheric and conjure up feelings of night air or a smokey room, the energy of the ocean's roar or capture the joy of a party or celebration.
the songs can be transportive and take you other places by their sound and the visuals they evoke from the stories they tell.. my first one is from tim mcgraw.
